Elderly Rural Americans

View this Publication

Document provides implications of a large and growing elderly population in Rural America, specifically. Provides ample evidence that older persons, in general, experience a substantial amount of poverty, social isolation, poor housing, and other socioeconomic problems, and that the rural elderly, in particular have relatively high poverty rates. America’s Rural Population is shown to be an aging population with declining birth rates alongside high outmigration rates.
