Barriers addressed include transportation problems, profound language differences, illiteracy, differing cultural and medical concepts held by practitioners and patients, lack of documentation, extensive filling out of forms, and insensitive scheduling demands. Research primarily emphasizes the perspective of indigenous Mexican migrants, focused primarily on rural Oaxacan undocumented women and children associated with migrant farm labor. Report provides case study examination of health problems experienced by Mixtec women and their children in Madera, California.
