Globalization Processes and Local Economies

View this Publication

Paper seeks to address the issue of globalization processes from the perspective of local economies.

Paper contends that the problem facing local communities, in the global scheme of things, is that they are relatively powerless except in very specific circumstances (e.g., where it possesses a unique or scarce resource which gives it some leverage).

Authors argue that the idea that growth of network organizations and relationships as a result of globalization, will lead to a general enhancement of local economic opportunity and well-being is false.
