The Rural Poor: What We Know and What We Need to Know

View this Publication

Report examines gaps in adequate policy-oriented research on the rural poor and what can be done to resolve it.

Researchers point out growing concerns of rural poverty as a result of combined effects of a major recession and changes in the structure of the national economy that have prompted growing signs of inequality. Researchers find that basic education and skills lag far behind in rural areas- gaps they find, that are the center policy of addressing rural policy. Report includes sections on rural business development with recommendations for sustainable growth, and an excerpt from a CSPA brochure entitled “101 Ideas for Stimulating Rural Entrepreneurship.”
