Author distinguishes traditional leaders or “conservators” of resources from “community builders”- business owners, concerned citizens and activists. Author focuses on these individuals and leaders that can shape development of the necessary economic leadership for rural communities in Nebraska. Goals of the Community Builders program include citizen awareness of local economy, increased awareness of citizen involvement in civic affairs, strengthen local and regional capacity for effective economic development, and effective use of economic development resources.
