Regional Impacts and Responses to Globalization

View this Publication

This case study describes the relationship between the globalization of capital and the general decline of a deindustrializing region (Western New York), and relates this dynamic to the particular conditions of the region’s rural communities. It reviews several approaches that have been used to slow the trend of disinvestment and to create a foundation for long-term growth, and suggests the types of support needed for their more effective application in rural areas
